Orbit Lab

Start in a circular orbit around Earth, then plan a Hohmann transfer: pick a new altitude, or pick the first burn and see where it takes you.

What do you choose?

The physics behind it

vc=μrv_c=\sqrt{\frac{\mu}{r}}
v2=μ(2r−1a)v^2=\mu\left(\frac{2}{r}-\frac{1}{a}\right)
at=r1+r22,tt=πat3μa_t=\frac{r_1+r_2}{2},\qquad t_t=\pi\sqrt{\frac{a_t^3}{\mu}}

Circular speed, vis-viva for the transfer ellipse, and half the transfer period for the flight time. Earth is a point mass with μ = 398 600.4418 km³/s²; drag, Earth’s bulge and the Moon are ignored. Perigees below 100 km are flagged as re-entry.
